The Apache-2.0 license is a permissive open-source license: it allows use, modification, and redistribution — including in proprietary derivative works — provided the license notice and any copyright/attribution notices are preserved. It does not impose copyleft obligations on derivative works, and permits commercial use without royalty.

Documentation and images are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0). For the complete license texts, see LICENSE file and LICENSE-DOCS in the repository root.

Generated register collateral under hw/**/regs/gen/ — including its .adoc and .html tables — is excluded from CC-BY-4.0 even though it lives under a documentation extension. It is a mechanical rendering of the Apache-2.0 SystemRDL source it is generated from, so it carries the same Apache-2.0 header as the .sv, .c, and .py collateral generated from that same source; see the development guidelines for the full rationale.

Vendored or overlay content from third parties (for example, under vendor/) may carry its own license terms.
